Cold Weather Tips For Cats

It sure is getting cold out there, isn’t it? Here’s a few tips on how to keep your
kitty safe and comfortable this winter.

  • First things first, don’t let your cat outdoors. Keep her safe and sound indoors. She can easily freeze or become injured outside in the cold.
  • Secondly, check your car before you start it. Sometimes outdoor cats will crawl under the hood of cars to keep warm. They can be seriously injured or even killed when the motor is started by the fan belt. So just to be on the safe side bang on the hood of your car loudly to give any cats the chance to get out.
  • Thirdly, you don’t want to leave your cat alone in the car. In cold weather the car can act just like a refridgerator by keeping the cold inside and she can freeze to death.
  • Fourthly, be extra careful to clean up any antifreeze spillage from your car. It is a lethal poison to cats.
  • And lastly, provide a warm spot for your cat to sleep. Keep her off the floor and away from any drafts. Providing a nice comfy bed would serve well or even a blanket or pillow.
