The signs of plant poisoning will depend on the type of plant your cat has ingested. Vomiting, bloody diarrhea, excessive salivation, fever, difficulty breathing, depression, abdominal pain, collapse, irregular heartbeat, trembling, excessive irritation of the skin, mouth and throat ulcers may be present. The cats condition may deteriorate rather swiftly which can lead to convulsions, coma, cardiac arrest, and death.
Treatment for plant poisoning will depend on the type of plant your cat has ingested. If you know the identity of the plant, contact your veterinarian and local poison control center for instructions immediately. You may also call The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, which is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week at 1-888-426-4435.
