Fading Kitten Syndrome is a disease that is believed to be transmitted to the kittens as they pass through the birth canal. After birth all will initially appear fine. The mother is healthy and the kittens are nursing. Then within the next week or two, one or more kittens die. If this disease doesn’t appear until the kittens are of at least three weeks old, it won’t be fatal.
The symptoms of Fading Kitten Syndrome disease include: a yellowish diarrhea, excessive crying, vomiting, refusal to eat, and difficulty breathing. If any of these symptoms appear contact your veterinarian immediately, due to the fact that treatment depends on the age of the kittens and the severity of the symptoms.

I just lost my Tonkinese kitten at age 4 months. she came to me sickly, suffering from URI. No western medicines or holistic medicines seemed to help her. I had to force feed her liquids and baby food, anything to get something into her. She died suddenly, without warning. I am devastated. My vet assured me something must have been wrong with her earlier in her life. One of her siblings died within a week after birth, her sister. Her brother is healthy and not sick. I am wondering if, at age 4 months, she could have died from fading kitten symdrome? I am devastated.
